In 2010 the Fell Pony Society launched a new Inter Area Championship for the best Fell pony (in-hand). Each FPS Support Group Area selects two ponies to put forward to the final which takes place at the Southern Show in September. The winner receives the Bewcastle Boy Blue Trophy presented by Ms Mary Longsdon MBE.
